how much heavier does the trt bit make it?

PAUL FISHER - 7/2/07 at 10:48 PM

Call me sad if you want Joel, but did weigh it before and after,900 grams extra,it weighs 9kgs now.I did think it would have been a lot more.

Gonna show my ignorance, here, but if you dont ask you never learn!!

TRT??

PAUL FISHER - 8/2/07 at 05:56 PM

It stands for,Torque Resiliant Tube, the rear section of the propshaft is made up of a tube within a tube, these are joined together with rubber inside the propshaft between the two tubes, its this that absorbs the torque, and so cushioning the drive.

Ah! Know what it is then, just didnt know it was a TRT!

Thanks!

G.Man - 8/2/07 at 06:19 PM

For TRT read Cush Drive

JoelP - 8/2/07 at 07:03 PM

900 grams i could just about cope with! lol

G.Man - 8/2/07 at 08:00 PM

better 900g of TRT than 900g of gearbox dogs in your engine oil

Was your prop a standard type 9 to start with?

No,mine was a MK bec prop, with a sliding UJ joint fitted on the end. They will make you a complete new prop, with a trt for around £230 +vat.

mistergrumpy - 9/2/07 at 11:30 PM

Ah. I thought I was in for a massive bargain then. Never mind, I'll have to wait till pay day. Cheers.

is that from scratch or do you have to supply them with a std sierra propo to rework?
