nitram38 - 26/2/07 at 06:43 PMR1 05 injection, 182bhp and 157bhp at the wheels.
russbost - 26/2/07 at 07:09 PMZZR1100 147bhp & easily tunable for more, plus more torque than most, needs no mods like dry sump/baffling etc & comes without exploding clutch/gearbox as fitted to the R1 & it's half the price, buy a pre '95 one & no Cat emmissions test either
ChrisGamlin - 26/2/07 at 08:19 PMYou can put virtually all R1 engines on that list, not just post 04 engines, my 03 engine put out 138bhp at the wheels on a borrowed Power Commander map, and Ive seen several properly set up with a bit more, carbed engines as well as injected.
The advantage of the superbike engines (R1, ZX9, blade, GSXR1000 etc) is that they're lighter than the more touring orientated engines like the ZZR1100 and Blackbird, so even if they sometimes don't quite have as much peak torque, thats offset by the weight saving
