would i notice a performance drop if i changed from 919 to 893 blade engine and are they the same block just smaller cc.

Why do you want to swap??

welderman - 20/3/07 at 10:53 AM

selector forks need sorting and poss gear box, so thinking of a quick fix for summer and then fix the 919.

I would guess the 919 is a bit quicker but not loads of difference

Not much in it methinks. Power delivery a bit sharper on 893cc probably. Hmmm which reminds me i suppose i should sell my old 893 engine. *sigh*

Yep there's bugger-all real world difference in performance once you're on it, just a bit fatter mid-range on the 919.

Don't forget though that the selector drum is reversed on the 893 so your gear change will be back to front if connected up as is. Also there's no speedo sender mounted in the 893 block so if you're using blade clocks you'll need to work out a remote way of triggering the sensor.

so not a bad solution then, i have a light sensor for my speedo so am ok there and as for mid range the turbo should sort that.

ChrisGamlin - 20/3/07 at 08:39 PM

Gearchange reversal is a concern though if you can't easily mod your linkage and you're used to it being in the current direction. One instinctive "up" change at 12krpm and you'll be after another engine (probably a 919 )

. I know, boom. But just ordered one of those cable tec push pull rod thingy(tec wording) so should be able to sort it. I HOPE.

There are a couple of fireblade breakers speacilists like "The fireblade Shop".

Just give one a bell and buy the bits you need.

Changing the selector forks or even gearsets is a piece of wee wee on blade engine!
