Hi just to get this right in my head,

I have the possibilty of puttin my blade engined indy on either a K plate or a F plate.

When it comes around to mot, will they test the emissions to the age of the plate or to the age of the engine, assuming no values are printed on the V5

Mike

I think it is the age of the plate, not the engine. When have you ever seen a MOT guy look for the engine number to do the CO2 check? never I'd say.

I supose this is why you can't go backwards in age with private plates.

It'll be to the age of the engine when SVA'd.

Not a clue as I'm a die hard carb fan!

though I got my old cavalier through the MOT without bother when the CAT fell to bits and I replaced it with a piece of pipe.

tother way round is it not, you cannot put a newer plate on an older car, so you can't make a car appear newer than it actually is, also if that was the case you wouldn't be able to put pre date suffix plates on newer cars and that patently isn't the case

Yup, you can't make a car look newer than it is, but all the best bits are on the old plates anyway! The MOT man will test the engine to the plate age, as mine was.
