Bought the car, now wondering about breakdown cover ( of course I won't need it will I?) If I do, who or what is best for a BEC? Any
recommendations.
Many thanks

I'm with RAC. I also get free GreenFlag cover with my current account....
IIRC RAC start charging after the third breakdown with the same car in one year so I carry around both cards and once I've used the RAC 3 times
will move over to using GreenFlag (although hopefully twice is enough!!!).....
I did joint AA a couple of years ago when my car wouldn't start properly. They let me join and sent someone out- what they didn't inform me
is that the £140 they were charging me for membership basically amounted to £39 membership and £110 for the call-out. I assumed it was for top level
cover- unfortunately when I broke down two months later I found it wasn't....
I've got green flag for mine, and have used it twice. Tool bag in the boot as well.
I have AA cover and European Cover through my insurer (SuretermDirect).
Have been recovered home on the back of an AA van three times now!

I think I'd better get orgnised, there's some bloody unreliable cars out there!!!!!
Built it.
Drove it.
MOT'd it.
Drove it.
Broke it.
SVA'd it.
Registered it.
Drove it (like I stole it!)
Broke it.
Fixed it.

Is there a pattern emerging here?

Auto AId - £32 per year for you and spouse for any car you are in.
Downside is, if you call out, you have to pay then claim back, but it is recommended by another "Locost" favourite of mine,
www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1094823518,14076,
I signed up in January
I looked at this very briefly and found Halfrauds do a good deal for £40 ish that includes home recovery and £30 for recovery to a local garage.
Most others were more expensive.
Still not decided whether I need it yet though.
I don't fancy having to leave my car at the road side if something goes wrong and I feel it might be worth it just for the peace of mind knowing
you can always get home.
for years ive just relied on friends, however when the wheel dropped off my trailer i needed a flatbad, cost me £65, which would've paid for a
year of cover anyway!
I,ve got RAC through NU insurance, they own it, its an Avivia company I believe.
Any car/bike that I,m on or travelling is covered, sounds good eh... not so.
I run a range rover on LPG so no spare wheel as the tank takes up the space, refused to take me home when i had a puncture
Bike had a puncture, no problem...
Quoted on the BEC 135, this includes £25 breakdown so will try and reduce as not required
I got it free with my graham Sykes insurance.
equity red star done through sureterm £28.00 for the year
