Hi all,
Has anyone come across a 'spare' wire on a 5JJ R1 loom that probably should go to the oil sensor relay? I can't seem to trace the
relay through my loom and I have a white wire with nowhere to live - will this cause me any issues?
Thanks
Steve
On my 5JJ loom I've got a black/red wire coming out of the clock to a single white connector which has a white/black dash wire coming out of that
which goes to the oil level sensor wire bullet connector.
Hope that makes sense.
That's the problem I'm having - there are two white wires, one of which fits the oil sensor tail cable, the other fits nowhere I've found (yet!)
I'm in the middle of striping my loon to get rid of the stuff I don't need. Problem is I've been looking at wires so long I can't
remember what goes where.
However I think the white from the oil level to the clock connector changes to red/black from there to the clocks (headlight sub harness B-4 wire
white connector). There's no relay on the circuit.
If you haven't got the wiring loom you can get one here (last page in the manual).

Print it off A3 or bigger!
Hope that helpsAdrian
be careful when you do the r1 loom as when i did mine it seemed to corespond with all the countries loom together
ie I had a Uk bike and it had half the colours from the AMerican one
I've deduced that I have an american loom, with a bit of 4XV and a bit of 5JJ in the loom (unless Haynes got a few things wrong!).
The white wire should probably go to the clocks and change to red/black. The red/black from the clocks gets to the connection block and stops - so
it'll either just work or I could make the connection and see what happens!
And people said using the bike loom would keep things simple...

I connected everything up and ran the engine just to see if it ran. It did (woohoo!). So now I'm striping out the stuff that I don't need.
If it wont go afterwards I know its something I've done!
Not come across anything different from the diagrams (or an immobiliser). Except for a light green wire, from the clocks to sub loom B connector,
thats not in the diagram. The thing is my clock loom isn't as any diagrams I've seen. Connector A has 12 pins and B has 6 (or had untill I
pulled it apart) and the diagrams show 10+6 or 12+4 (as my main loom). I mated every thing up except this wire and everthing works. Any ideas?
Also whats the "Option switch"?
Adrian
Makes me even happier that I've stripped all of mine right back. I'll check what info I've got tonight and see if I can help.

It didn't matter as I chopped the connectors off!
Yep, it's the white that changes to black/red from the oil level switch.
Steve - I have your helmet! I'll drop it in at some point. Can you emither me your number?

Crap - the black and red wire stops at the connection from the clocks, so I guess I'll have to wire something in.
Really cracked on with the car since the weekend (fully re-inspired!), hopefully will be able to get her fired up for the first time soon(ish)
