Crash damage/Salvage bikes

I'm after a crash damaged bike to strip and reuse as much of the bike as possible, engine, clocks, indicators etc.
How do you go about finding an insurance write-off cheaply i.e. before it's bought by a company to strip and sell in bits?

www.universalsalvage.co.uk usually has a few online auctions for bike salvage. Haven't used them though.

I'm sure Malc would help, I may end up going that way in the end. I'm trying to cut out the middleman though

Buy a complete ZZR1100, decent fairly low mileage (sub 30,000) examples are available for around £1000, you can ride it to check all is A1, strip off what you want & sell the rest on ebay for almost what you paid!

Speak to Kevin or Dale at Rodgeman & Williams, they have many bikes written off at their shop. I used to do about 3 a week when an insurance assessor. They quite offen get 'stuck' with the odd Higherbusted to dispose of!

Bike shops... good idea, I shall send some feelers out. Cheers :-)
