Birkett 6 hour race.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Some pretty dangerous stuff there. A few points where he's almost boxed in.
indeed it was a good run, but he did take some unnecessary risks cutting through the middle of groups of people
To an extent you have to in the Birkett though, there's such a diverse range of cars, and so a diverse range of speeds, that if you waited to
overtake conventionally with each car down the straight you'd get nowhere.
Having pit crewed for a team at the Birkett a couple of times, it does scare you a bit watching them going into Copse 5 abreast with cars that have
maybe 50-60mph differences in apex speeds, but the slow drivers are generally pretty well behaved and know that the faster cars will be approaching
them at speed, so often stay off line even when there's nobody immediately behind them.
I think it looks worse than it is due to camera angle
blimey, that looks rapid!
Its quick, but on the same tyres as a lot of people use on track (A048s) and no downforce so in the same ballpark as a BEC sevenesque car would be, maybe a second or two quicker per lap.
cracking video,
makes me want a BEC again
I'm bumping this because I think it's that good - in case anyone missed it on a Sunday evening,
And to think I have out qualified and run in front of that car in the past.......
Its been developed a lot since then though and is now a front runner in the RGB series.......
What emgine was he using, it was pretty quick.
ZX12.
Aye, probably fair to say that Rob's is the 2nd fastest car in the RGB at present. Interesting that neither of the top two are Busa powered - both run the ZX12.
