Sorry to hijack your thread, but talking of ratios, Chris Mason sent me a link to a program to work out speeds in different gears.
I can get the actual gear ratios for my 05 R1 from the manual, but I don't know how to convert the chain ratio to a final drive number for the
program.
My drive sprocket is the std 17 tooth one and my chain diff sprocket is 52 tooth.
Can anyone give me an accurate final drive number e.g. 1.2 etc?
I did try dividing 52 by 17 = 3.059 but it gave me silly speeds.
Should it be the other way around?
17 divided by 52 = 0.32
Either way I am unsure!
3.059 to 1 sounds ok for the final drive but you also need to add in the primary reduction ratio of the bike gearbox usually around 1.5 to 1.6 to 1
thus lowering the speeds shown in each gearby approx 50% or so, or is it a third
getting a bit pi55ed for the calcs

I knew something was wrong when my top speed came out at 180mph!
i would guess a 3.059 ratio would give in the region of 140ish mph max dependant on wheel size
I'll check it out tomorrow when I get in from work!
