Hi all,
Having looked time after time at fitting my R1 into the Tiger, i really think i need to look at chopping the sump down in order to get the engine low
enough but also keep the sump level with the lower chassis rail (which is 5" from the floor).
Has anyone done any sump mods to an 05 R1 or do you think i would be ok lowering the engine below the chassis??
should be fine an inch or so below the rail. you may want to move the drain plug to the side to give a little more clearence
Hi the R1 dosnt need any mods at all just a baffle plate and its ok to set it below the rail but keep at least 4 inch ground clearence and fit a sump gaurd just in case
Cheers guys. An inch below the chassis it is then.
With the fuel rail one side and the secondary butterflies servo motor the other, it looks very tight for fitting an air filter in there without a
spacer. Anyone else come across this at all??

It is. I've made up an air box to a remote filter. I'm about to make version 2 which will be a bit lower to fit under the bonnet.
I'll post pictures later (not at home).

Looks good - wish i had the space to do something similar myself!! From the measurements i have been given by another Tiger owner, with my sump 1 inch below the chassis rail the throttle bodies are half an inch under the lowest point of the bonnet and the servo will stick up out of the bonnet!!!
Thats my problem as well. Hence version 2 which will be the same height as the secondary throttle assembly. It'll also have an inlet on both ends
to allow more air in and feed the throttles more evenly.
I'll make it this week and take pictures as I go.
