Clutch Arm Spring
mistergrumpy - 27/8/07 at 05:36 PM

Just wired my pedals up and my clutch isn't all that keen on coming back to its rest position. Has anyone uprated the clutch arm return spring on a ZX9? Or any suggestions on how to help it out a bit?

I just used a return spring on the pedal end.

As in a spring attached to the bulkhead and the bottom end of the pedal?

My clutch cable has a threaded end.
Attached rosejoint to the end, rosejoint bolted through the pedal. The spring fits between the other end of the bolt and the bulkhead (if you see what I mean?)
Can't find a decent picture of it...

There is no return spring on mine , and it works fine.

Well it does comes back but it could do with a bit of encouragement if you know what I mean.

Just a thought - if you put a return spring on the pedal, won't the nipple be in danger of popping out of the pedal? A stronger spring at the clutch end would make more sense.

Well not in my case as I have a cross drilled bolt through the pedal with a nyloc on the other end and the bolt just spins easily. My first thought though, like yours was to just upgrade the spring at the clutch end. Don't know of a replacement though.
