
Having done a search for an appropriate choke cable, the general concensus of opinion is to use a 'Mini' type cable and a suitable nipple to
attach to carb end.
Anyone know how long these cables are? (I reckon I'll need one about 5 - 6ft in length) and where to source said nipple?

I can't. comment on what cable it would be, but are you sure you need one?
We have never had one fitted to our 919 Blade and have not had any starting problems.

I started out with one on mine Andy, but removed it because I never needed to use it - you can have mine if you like, but it really isn't worth
it...

Mine wasn't long enough to reach the dashboard I'm afraid Andy, so you might be best off buying a longer one anyway!
But, it did reach the back of the scuttle, so when I used it (only to check it worked) it was ok to just lean forward and reach under the dash a few
inches.
Like I say, it's yours if you want it for free (well swap
!)

I've used the mini choke cable method on mine.
I attached a normal nipple to the end of mine by leaving an old nipple on a short bit of cable and using a bit of electrical connecting block to join
it on the end.
Mine will start without it but I have got a full airbox on, it wont start if I leave the airbox lid off.
Used the bonnet release cable of the donor and activated it with the release handle under the column, works a treat!

On the earlier blade engines, carbed engines would not start without choke... FI is different, depends upon your engine choice.
We used the Sierra bonnet release cable on our 'blade install as she too would not start when cold without some extra juice!
On the FI kwaka - no problems.
Just as a thought, the new NGK Iridium Plugs help with cold starting as the nose temperature is hotter almost instantaneously, this helps to reduce
the cold carbon deposits which accumulate on the core in cold temperatures.

My 91 Blade if left for a week or more
requires the choke to start i dont bother
with the cable cause never sure if its fully
off so i lift bonnet and work it manually. So
no need to mess about fitting a choke cable in my opinion.
I have used a universal cable much like the mini version it is about two metres in leghtn and have it hidden under the dash on the steering column,
make sure you get a lockable one.
