Mine hangs a bit low!!
What have you guys done to yours?
(Sump? Baffle plate? Oil pickup?). Any pictures would be really useful.
Thanks,
Eggy
Care of Jaspers photo archive chop. Do a search on chopped sump and you'll find other photos. Generally a thin baffle plate with a gasket either side and a chopped pick up.
I bit the bullet and now have the stuart taylor billet ally sump with a baffle plate and shortened pickup. It wasn't locost but it's a very
fine shiny piece of kit.

Mistral Engineering did mine the same as Jaspers picture.
Chopped flat with the sump plug on the side.
Just a thought. I'm going to try and get away without the chop I think, would I stil need a baffle? I'm thinking yes as the oil will be sloshing around unlike in the bike where it tilts and would be held at some kinda level due to the centrifugal (or centripetal if you like!) forces
SUMP CLEARENCE!!!

Tell me about it!!!
You wont find anyone that makes the billet sumps anymore. I might have a little solution for you.
Im in the process of getting a sump specially made for me. With in a few weeks i will be able to tell you more about it.

Andy W has chopped his sump and he has'nt fitted a baffle, he's done some track meets and plenty of milage on the road with no oil problems.

I've got a spare to play with so now I need a welder - ebay?
The ZX9 sump is one of the easiest sumps to chop down, my uncle did Jasper's one in the pic above and has subsequently done about 15-20, he
charged about £50 but unfortunately doesn't have the equipment/time to do them at his new workplace.
All you really need though is to find a local machine shop that has a method of cutting the base off square, a bit of ally plate and a tig welder. The
pickup is plastic and with a bit of forethought can be cut down and pretty much made so the remainder of the straight tube snaps together with the
conical part, you then only need a bit of araldite or even silicone to seal it up. You just need to know how much to cut it down by, measuring it all
up before cutting the sump is the easiest way to do it to make sure it sits at the same depth again once chopped.

Cutting the sump down is the easy bit - got a mill etc at work but no welding plant
