Bike Loom questions

Just curious as I'm looking at parts and wondering what I could easily do myself and what I should buy in.

For the loom. If you have the bike loom and just extend the existing wiring for the dashboard components, are the only other extras, front and back, the lights and would it be easy enough just to carry on extending the wires for them also?

Figured 100 quid here and there is better in my pocket for other stuff when wire and scotch tape is only a couple of quid from Maplins (or borrowed from work)...

I've also been reading the DD2 manual and despite preferring old style gauges I'm starting to warm to it.

Another question. Are Savage switches waterproof or at least splashproof?

Basically that is all you need to do... the Sierra switches aren't exactly easy as the bike switches operate in a different manner.

You need to ADD a fog-light and Hazards don't forget. Saw a TVR yesterday in Leeds - thought about yours... shame, a lovely car!

Wasn't planning on Sierra switches really.
Looking at Savage or small rubber booted toggle switches depending on waterproofing as I'll likely need to use the car on more than just perfectly dry days.

I've been looking at the R1 wiring diagram and as far as I can tell most of the functions can just be wired straight up to on/off switches in the car.
I was thinking about wiring up the kill switch to the trigger switch on the start button panels you can buy and fitting it on the transmission tunnel with the key next to it (don't know how that would be for SVA though).

The cerb is a fantastic car. Very reliable in the 2 1/2 years I've had it but I've got a terminal case of upgraditis and between that, servicing, fuel and insurance I could build a new kit car every year. I thought it would be safer for my wallet if I built something a bit cheaper and use it for trackdays (It scares me thinking about the cost of fibreglass repairs on the cerb as I know how much a respray is from experience!!!!)

One thing to possibly bear in mind - if you think you might upgrade engines at some point in the future (whether its to a later R1 or a different engine), I would strongly suggest that you keep the bike loom and the car's ancilliary loom (lights, dash, horn, fusebox etc) totally seperate, otherwise when you come to upgrade, you'll basically need to totally rewire the car again with the new bike's loom. If all you use from the bike loom is the bits needed to make it run, when you come to switch engines, its a much simpler procedure (voice of experience!)

I guess I could take the bits from the bike loom that need extended and put them through something like a block connector to make any changes easier. Should be easy enough to do.

I'm hoping I can get the engine around the time I order the kit then do all these things while I'm waiting (although I did promise to redecorate the house in this time)...
