Need to blag an exhaust can (or cat)

I need to borrow (or buy if cheap) a shorter exhaust can to get me through my SVA retest. My emissions were too high at the first test and I now have a new but huge cat from MNR. The problem is that there isn't enough room for both the cat and the can.

Do you have a spare silencer that has a 600mm or shorter total lenght that you can lend me? Pretty please?

Colin

P.S. I suppose a shorter cat than I have got would do the trick instead. the one I have is 270mm long plus the pipe on each end. I could use one that is less than 200mm plus the pipes.

Got the cat fitted now with the R1 can with millimetres to spare. Thanks again OX

Mine failed with a cat and an R1 can, although it passed on noise - just. 100dB @7500 RPM.
I have another cat now so 2nd time lucky, I hope.

KevR1, what kind of R1 do you have?

Do you have the AIS still hooked up or have you junked that.
My understanding is that it introduces air into the exhaust and reduces HC (I could be completely wrong though).

I was thinking it might be worth it just for the emmissions then put it away afterwards for the next MOT time if needed.

No, Mine is a 98 engine and so doesn't have AIS.

I think the AIS reduces HC but the air in the exhaust screws up the lamda.
