R1 2002/03: Power Commander III oe IIIr

Hi.

For our BEC porpuses, is there any need of the IIIr over the III?
Thanks in advance,
Joao Caldeira

As you probably know the IIIr also gives you ignition mapping as well as fuelling. Ive personally got a IIIr but only because it came up cheap on ebay, I think a IIIUSB would do the job perfectly well in 99% of circumstances and its only if you're trying to eek out the very last horsepower or you intend on changing things like cams that the IIIr becomes a significant benefit.

I was looking for a PCIIIUSB based on a post here which suggested I wouldn't need a PCIIIr. However, a IIIr turned up on ebay and I bagged it, brand new, in the box for 130quid. Bargain

Keep your eyes peeled.

1 thing to be aware of, is that some PC3USB's are infact PC3R's in a PC3USB case...

I would suggest that a PC3USB would be the best bet, and a plain old ignition advancer plate...

Most places wont have the skills to do a full setup on a PC3R anyway, so go with aftermarket parts
