Fuel pump for 2003 R1

Hi all.

What have you used for fuel pump in 2002 / 2003 R1s, as it seems that their original fuel pumps are inside the tank and not usable in the BEC?

I suppose 1998-2001 would fit (as it was carbed engines, so lower pressure), right?

Thanks,
Joao Caldeira

I've used the bike pump and had it fitted when my fuel tank was made. It's only 6 screws holding it in place and an o' ring seal. Keeps things simple and should be up to the job.

The carbed ones are lower pressure and not suitable for FI.

I used a fireblade submersible pump, similar to the R1 one.

I plasma cut the shape of the pump out of 12mm ally plate, tapped 6 holes, capped these, and tig welded this to a swirl pot at the bottom of the tank.

As I didnt want to hack my tank about to much I have used an external Bosch 058 464 070. Universal pump (similar to Vaux Cavalier).

The fuel rail is 43psi so 4-5 bar should be fine.

I think I used the same one that Jim has now used, certainly a Bosch external jobbie, does the job fine.

The first one looks identical externally to mine although mine's blue and was used on Range Rover V8s and TVRs so may be the next one up to that one.
The ad says it can supply 75psi which is more than sufficient though, and the fact that it is used on an engine such as an XJ12 would suggest it can flow enough, so that should be OK. Not sure on the other two as there's no specs for them
