Kawasaki Engine Numbers

Has anyone ever tried/succeeded in getting Kawasaki (or any other bike manufacturer) to confirm the date of manufacture of an engine from its engine number (as Ford seem quite happy to do for their engines)?

Would probably be a useful thing to have for SVA (esp since mine is '94 so not far off the 'cat date'.

Exactly what I wanted to hear!

Did you just write to their UK Customer Service address?

Or call them... hand over the £30 or whatever it is now. Then wait until the verified document lands on your doormat...

Even cheaper than that, I went into my local Kawa dealer and asked at the parts counter. They have a computer database and if you tell them the engine no it will tell you the original spec of the bike. They printed it out for me, including all the Kawasaki logos and everything. Had the engine no, the chassis no, the spec, the colour and the date of manufacture on it. Newcastle accepted this as proof.

Kawasaki UK did me a headed letter of confirmation of year for nothing.
I went on the Kawasaki UK web site and asked on there. Letter came in less than a week.
