fireblade plug problems

Anyone had problems with fireblade spark plugs,I have a 1999 fireblade engine and no 2 plug keeps failing. at £7.50 each this is starting to get expensive..
The spark plug cap seems to be fine and tight, could it be the lead/coil.
Or upgrading to iridium plugs help

Is it burning, ie melted, or fouling up, ie oily?

Which are you calling cylinder 2?
There is an air bleed under #3 carb (or what I thought was #3) which needs plugging else you'll be letting in loads of extra air and running very lean on that cylinder.

I presume it is no2 as it is stamped on cylinder head, that is no2 nearest the scuttle.
Air bleed is blanked off engine runs fine when all plugs are working,
If mixture was a bit off on that cylinder surely it wouldn't render spark plug useless ,after just running car up to tempreture switching off then leaving for a couple off days

My Zx10's used to regularly foul plugs, I moved up 2 heat grades & have no problems, they are only generally run hard for short periods tho' - both of these sound like fouling problems which a softer plug would cure.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

Grahamgg, is the car actually up and running on the road or is it just being started up periodically? If it's the latter, the plugs will soon start to foul up.

Yes hellfire nearly ready for sva so it is only been run up periodically as not to run battery flat etc,,plug is useless even after cleaning,,only no2 plug but plug doesn't look fouled up etc,,

It really needs to be driven to keep the plugs clean. I know it's difficult but try and refrain from starting it up. Once it's up and running properly, get it tuned and all should be well.

Could be wrong as its over a year since I had a blade but from what I remember, the air bleed mentioned above is under the second inlet from the left, if looking down the carb mouths (ie from the drivers side of a front engined car). Worth investigating
