Blade Oil Drain Plug
Hmm, I've managed to strip the thread on the drain plug on my modded blade sump. Too much oil around and too eager with the wrench on the bolt
my fellow locoster had welded in there. I'm gonna run a tap through the thread and take the risk of any swarf. Am I mad? Failing that, spare
standard sump pan sitting in the garage is going on tonight.
Dunno why I'm posting as I have a plan but it helps to share!

Do you have any idea what size the thread is? I'd recommend dropping off the sump and helicoiling the thread.
The kits for large threads aren't cheap (see here ), so you may find a local engineering place that will
bang you one in for half the price. Otherwise, drill and tap it the next size up. Halfrauds do a range of replacement car sump plugs so you may find
one that you can use there....

Put the standard sump back on while you get the old one fixed. Just get the stripped hole welded up, then drill and tap a new one.
