02 FI R1, no spark. FIXED!
Having had the engine out and changed the plugs, it looks like that's not the problem.
The fuel pump runs and the engine turns over, but it's still not firing.
I've removed a plug and earthed the body to the chassis but I'm not seeing any signs of a spark.
Anyone got any ideas what to try next?
Thanks,
Martin.

Have you checked that all your bypass wires and resistors are still in place for the clutch / sidestand etc?

Does your loom have a cyclelock? Is it fitted?

No cycleloc, all the wires have been crimped to remove the plugs.
I thought the stand and clutch switches were only related to starting it.
They've been buzzed out, but if they'll stop the spark I'll have another check tomorrow.
The moral of the story is, once it's been run, leave the connector alone, don't tidy the wiring .
Cheers,
Martin.

You certainly won't get a spark if any of the sidestand / clutch / neutral switch etc are not bypassed, cutting the spark is how it prevents you
starting it.
Also if a cycle lock isnt present, the plugs have dead end connectors in them with a couple of loops to connect a few of the wires together so its
bypassed, I assume you have immitated this when chopping out the plugs?

Cheers Chris,
like I said, I'd thought the switches were just to stop the starter and fuel pump, but thinking about it, cutting the fuel off probably
wouldn't stop the engine immediately.
The cycleloc's been removed successfully as the engine has run, but not since I shortened some of the wiring to make it tidier.
At least now I know it's probably my wiring.
Martin.

If it's not the sidestand, clutch then have a look at one of my threads from a few weeks ago. I couldn't get it started and it turned out
to be one wire that needed to get to ground and wasn't doing that properly.

Have you bypassed the tip over sensor?

SOLVED!
I've epoxied the pendulum on the sensor in place, so hopefully that won't be a problem.
The cause has been found .
I'd previously buzzed everything out disconnected. When checking today with everything connected, the clutch switch wires via the ignition to
pin 43 weren't buzzing.
When I'd checked the disconnected plugs, I must have checked the bullet connector where the wire pokes through the collar, as this wasn't
actually contacting the body. It looks like I crimped this connection with the wire through to far and crimped the insulation.
After replacing the bullet (and realising after several seconds turning over to no effect that I'd left the rectifier earth disconnected from
when I'd unplugged it for access ) the engine fired
Thanks for the help gents.
Martin.
