R1 Oil Pressure
Just fitted my oil pressure gauge, and it reads just over 1bar (15psi) when hot (100 deg).
When I rev to 5k it rises to just below 6 bar (90psi).
In the manual it says that the pressure should be 45psi at 1100 revs (doesn't say whether that's hot or cold).
Does this match what others are seeing, or have I got a problem.
There's no smoke and it ticks over fine, although it does seem to breath heavy from the gearbox breather.
Any Ideas?

Not sure how many miles the engine has done, but it's not a spring chicken. It's a 2000 model.
I've got a Racetech sensor & gauge fitted through the R1 oil cooler bolt.

Sounds a bit HIGH to me, or an innacurate gauge.
The R1 does run quite low pressure generally, mine goes as low as ~8-9psi at hot idle and won't get much above 60psi under load when hot.
Cold idle will be around 40-50psi, Im not sure what pressure the PRV kicks opens at but ISTR its around 75psi, so you should never see anything much
higher than that.

Yeh its not low mate. I get similar figures from my 5JJ when cold but if thats hot does seem higher than Id expect. My gauge is plumbed into the oil
cooler bolt.

Mine ran at a stable 12 - 15 psi hot, on the rolling road on Tuesday - temperature was stable as well. I had to reprogramme the warning lights (Spa
dual gauge) to stop them flicking on and off all the time but this is fine.
It was all fine until this happened
Castrol Superbike oil btw.

Thanks everyone, sounds like I won't need to strip the engine out after all
