Re Locoblade over fueling

Last week I sent a post asking if anybody knew why my locoblade was overfueling, I had a few suggestions which are all possibilites of the problem, which I'll try to eradicate one at a time.
I have just noticed on another locoblade that the fuel pump is at the back near the tank. Mines at the front under the bonnet. Could this be a problem??

No, not as long as you aren't using an injection pump on a carb engine?

The pump will disharge to a set pressure of a few p.s.i. (i.e. about 7) and then shut off, hence the ticking. If you disconnect the discharge pipe and set it running, does it stop if you stick your thumb over the end?

Mine is next to the engine on my R1 and is fine.

Yes it ticks for a while then stops when it reaches pressure, I think i've got a stuck float or something like that. thanks for reply, at least i can forget about that being the problem.

you got carbs then?

usualy there is a float that pushes on a needle valve that closesd off fuel - you need to check that the float is not holed, is set to the right height and check that the needle valve closes - a tiny bit of dirt is capable of stopping the needle valve from closing - you have an in-line fuel fileter?

yes its a carb version, I have an inline filter. I think the best thing i can do is to get the carbs serviced.

Hi,

I have the same car/engine, and problem occured a couple of years ago. The fuel was pumping constantly through the main jet and pooling in the carb. Made car run very rough. When stopped the carb would flood. I took the bowl apart and made sure all was well with the float and cleaned the needle valve and its been right ever since. Took me 15 mins to do, very easy.
