Bike clocks question - what info do they show?
Hi, I am no biker, but planning a BEC, so could use some info on bike clocks.
I am planning an injected R1 installation and quite like the look of the bike clocks, I would like to use them. I have searched the forum and I
understand the rev counter, speedo (with speedo healer) will work fine, possibly the trip and odo as well.
How about:
- water temp?
- oil pressure?
- fuel level?
- gear indicator (which gear you are in)?
Is there anything else the R1 clocks show?
Basically I would need the lowest possible cost solution, but having rev, speedo, odo, trip, fuel, gear indicator, gear change indicator (these two
possibly need to be bought separately - ideas, where?)
What other clocks, switches, lights do I need other than the R1 clock and the 2 gear indicators I mentioned to have what I need?
Thanks,
Gergely

My 98 R1 clocks show milage and trip milage, MPH or KM/H and revs. There are lights for main beam, indicators, low fuel and low oil plus the LCD
shows thermostat temperature.
I have a separate lamp for handbrake warning.

Thanks! I have looked in your photo archive and see that you have the clock, a fan switch, a fog switch and a fuel gauge plus I assume a regular time
clock.
Does this mean that the fuel gauge is needed as the R1 clock only has a light, but no gauge?
Thanks,
Gergely

The R1 clocks only have a low fuel warning light and no gauge. I fitted a gauge just to be sure, though I suppose you don't need one.

if it works in the bike
you get an oil level warning light not oil pressure
I never bothered with one and my BEC R1 was the most reliable thrashed car I have ever owned I wouldnt worry to much unless you want to fit one

That's the thing, I do not want to fit anything that is not strictly necessary for quick road and occasional track driving. That's why I
thought bike clocks, additional gear indicator, gear change lights and fog switch, that is it... Am I right or did I miss something?
By the way I want to put the main, fullbeam, horn, indicator and hazard switches on the dash as well and get rid of the Sierra column to make place
for the paddles...
Is there something else I need to think of?

The 2003 R1 clocks show Revs, speed, odo, water temp, shift light.
I haven't noticed a fuel gauge but it definately has no gear indicator.
I've used an acumen one so that I know what gear I'm in and revotech oil pressure and temp gauges.

All you need is the bike clocks ( r1 03 ) brake fluid light , fog light switch, and sierra switchgear on the column.

You can use the low level fuel light for handbrake light.
