Quaife reverse operation
Hi!
A mate of mine has just bought a Megablade which has a Quaife mech reverse, apparently operated by some lever (I don't know these as I have no
reverse).
He is concerned that sometimes he fails to engage the reverse properly, resulting in the car not moving and some noise.
He would like to know the way to use it properly, wether if you need to have the main gearbox in neutral first or not, if you need to push the clutch
or not.
I apologize if you may think it's not very kind of him not to register and say hello, he can't speak English so I thought I'd give a
hand this time.
Thanks everyone.

Hi Alex
From what I recall of my mate's Megablade, you often need to rock the car forwards slightly to engage reverse. Usually he'd leave it in
first and creep very slightly on the clutch and at the same time engage reverse.
Its the same with most gears though so I wouldnt have thought its a fault, in the same way that you can't usually select all the gears in the
gearbox without the engine running and often cant select first without first dipping the clutch in neutral.
cheers
Chris

BEC reverse
I have a quaife box and I've found the best way to get reverse is not try for reverse straight away. Let the clutch in and engage first (this
should go in nice and clean) and then clutch down and push it into reverse, mine always seems to go straight in then it must align the teeth i guess.

its like engageing first gear
its just like u engage first gear...
the best it works when you have play in your axle (the reason for the bang)
some times in the normal car it also happens with reverse for example...
it happens very often with Straight gears..
because they need to line up sow nicely.
