51 PLATE HONDA BLACKBIRD 1100

Is this a ideal bike engine for a bec?

Does it need dry sumping?

Are there any thing else i should know?

Cat needed or not?

Please if any one can help me with these questions it would be very appreciated.

Cheers

As far as I know (from reading my Westfield Megabird build manual) its a hydraulic clutch (so possibly a bit more tricky than a cable) and also should be dry sumped, so more costly.

Its not a bad choice, not "ideal" though because of below

If in a front engine'd car unless you're just planning on road use then pretty unanimously yes. Transversely mounted (ie mid-engined) then maybe not, although you'd probably still want an Accusump or something to protect the engine as they are succeptable to oil surge. Because of this I think the R1 is a better bet in most situations, unless the 'bird is rediculously cheap.

Anything newer than '95 will need a cat for SVA, so yes.

cheers

If your putting a blackbird up front turned 90 then you need some sort of protection against oil starvation, otherwise you WILL get an exit hole in the block directly opposite #3 con rod.
