R1 4XV Sump O ring...

Hey all,

I had a read of this thread in relation to the 02 R1 motor and was curious about the 4XV...

http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=42109

I've fitted a sump baffle to my motor and checked to see that a ring was present as I removed it. There didn't seem to be. And there did seem to be a rubber gasket in the female side of the fitting in the sump...

I can't seem to find the O ring in the servie manual or the fiches. So was curious as to whether the 4XV has this ring or whether it's just a case of a sealing gassket in the female part of the sump?

Any thoughts??

Ta,

Chris.

Hi Chris
the little copper pipe is the water pump drain pipe to allow water to escape if the pump fails
there should be a o ring on either side of it on all r1 models
best way to fit is put them on the pipe first then insert into pump them replace sump
cheers malc

Thanks for that Malc and Scooey,

I think I'll pull the sump off again tonight to get another look. As you say putting one in there can't do any harm...

Ta,

Chris.
