zx12r clutches

What clutch plates is everyone using in their zx12r cars?

I just fitted a barnett kit and its lasted about 50 miles...

Stock? EBC?

Which is best?

We have stock clutch plates with Barnett springs fitted. Upto now it's done a few drag days, trackdays and about 4,000 road miles. Still no signs of slippage. From other peoples experience of EBC clutches, I'd stay well clear. Most people usually swear by Barnett though, so can't understand why you've only got 50 miles out of yours.

Personally I'd go for stock everytime.

Edit........ With the amount of knowledge you have Mark, I would have thought you knew the answer to your question.

I have a barnett pressure plate and springs with EBC plates on my R1. I had to put washers under the top hats to clamp the springs up a bit more to prevent slip. I've had no problems since and very little clutch wear in 4000 miles and 1 track day.

Is your clutch slipping or are the plates worn?

No because in bike racing we use kit clutches, and they dont make a kit clutch for the zx12r

Wouldnt use EBC kevlar clutch as the plates explode meaning a full engine strip, but never tried their stock plates. My stock plates lasted a lot longer than the Barnett... very disappointed in it...

TKS

Don't try to tell me its impossible, I am telling you its a fact...

They werent purchased in the UK as the clutch kit was half the price of this in the US...

The reason I have discovered, is that the clutch plates are too thin, and the clutch stack is therefore not the right height..

Having read up about the barnett clutch I am assured its a pile of dog dirt!

Now I am gonna fit muzzy plates and a muzzy locker clutch..

End of problem

You shouldn't really need a lock up clutch unless you're expecting to get more than about 200bhp out of your engine or you're into serious drag racing. A stock OEM clutch will do the job without problems.

Still, it's your money.........
