Newbie questions!
Hey guys - I am about to start designing a BEC based on the MK Indy. I want it to be really rapid off the line, top end does not need to be too high
(although wouldn't complain!). Any suggestions for which block to drop in?
Also, would mounting in mid-engined make it too skippy on the back end - I see that a lot of the cars use a drive shaft from a front engine, but does
this not reduce the power (from chain driven)?

You'll find answers to many of these questions by using the search function, sorry there is no FAQ on this group.
Have a good poke round and you'll soon get a feel for what is good/gad in the engine dept for instance...

You're not too far away from me, come for a ride in an mac1 with an R1 engine. With a 3.62 diff it's quick off the mark with a reasonable
top end.
After we've had a few side way moments, it's unliklely you'll want a lot more power. My welder puts his hand in front of my face to
slow me down !
Saying that, I'm putting my pennies away for a ZZR 1400 motor

By the way, if it were me, consider buying the chassis / wishbones from MK or whoever (mac1 / mnr etc etc).
Unless you're doing it on a real budget or want the challenge, then the re-sale would be better with a 'manufacturers chassis'

Welcome & go the mid engined route!!!
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator

Welcome to the madhouse. Firstly, good decision on the choice of engine. Any 900cc bike engine upwards will give you the acceleration you desire.
Top speed, expect to be somewhere between 120 to 140mph depending on choice of engine. If you're basing it on an MK Indy, you're gonna
struggle to get a middy Finally, you're always gonna lose a bit of power through transmission losses regardless of whether you use a
propshaft or chain drive.

Thanks for the help, wasn't expecting so many replies so quickly!! Lots to think about there... as for the offers, i'm definetely up for
some of that, I have seen some indys racing at llandow, but haven't had a chance to ride in any - sweet!
