Parts supplier - R1 sump gasket
Hi,
Does anyone know of an decent online source for the above - I don't have time to get to my local dealer through the week to order one and wait
till it arrives.

Wemoto don't seem to sell sump gaskets alone.
I'm not really wanting to make my own because I've got far too many other parts to make up to finish the build, I just can't be
@rsed to take on any extra's (lazy, but at least honest  )

I just got one from my local bike shop.
£7 and it was with them in 2 days.
You couldn't pwn your way out of a wet paper bag, with "PWN ME!!" written on it, from the "pwned take-away" which originally contained one
portion of chicken tikka pwnsala and the obligatory free pwnpadom.

I'm keen to avoid Chapmans after my last dealings with them being somewhat unsatisfactory (in fact, damn right rude), but if needs must, then

Steve,
Consider using Loctite Blacktite in place of the OEM gasket, I paid about £12 for a can and you'll get a hundred sump gaskets at least, you can
also use it on crankcasing halves, timing covers and clutch covers.
I'm running a heavily modified 5PW spec sump pan and the first go at welding it up left us with a sump not entirely true, with a standard sump
gasket and a thin smear of mechanical grade silicon sealant it leaked.. like a very leaky titanic thing. I used a generous helping of the blacktite
and it sealed up good and proper. The next sump came out a lot better and I only needed a thin smear of blacktite. It's stronger than regular
sealant and you won't find it in the oil pick up when you strip it down next time.
Loctite catalog number is 30740 - the can has a picture of it being applied to a car engine sump pan.

Really? I suppose that I've bought quite a lot of expensive TZ bits from them in the past (paid £40 for one suspension bearing!  ), so I tend
to get on with them ok.
I can understand where you're coming from though....

Usually I'd just shrug things off as people having a bad day, but there are soooooooo many company's that have treat me badly throughout
my build, I'm trying to only give my business to the good guys (the likes of MNR, Rally Design etc.)
At least I should be finished soon - anly major components required now are wheels and lights, the rest just needs putting together competently!
