R1 mountingpoints?
Hi,
Can anybody tell me if the mountingpoints of a 98' R1 are the same compared to a Injection version, or is this a completly different engine?
Thanx.
Sebastian.

My injection 05 has two mounts at the rear of the head, two above and two below the rear of the gear casing.
The head mounts take bolts and the rear gear mounts take rods that go all of the way through.
I would have thought that the mounts are much the same.

1998 (carb) to 2003 (inj) should be the same.
I think the 04 engine is slightly different as it's taller.

02/03 engine has one or two different mounting points (on the side of the head) but some cradles don't use those anyway so they may be
interchangeable. The 02/03 engine has about 1" deeper sump though so if the cradle is already mounted in a car you might put an 02 engine in and
find it drags on the floor!

As per Chris' comments plus as I understand it, some of the bolt-holes may be a different size i.e. M10x1.25 on Carb models and something else
(anyone know?) on later engines.

The mounts on the 04 engines on are significantly different - don't ask how I know! The sprocket position and the gear lever are also in
different positions.
Chassis being 'altered' as I type!

Threaded mounting holes on 02/03 engine are M10 fine pitch. I believe they're very similar to the earlier carb engine but not identical.
