Handbrake And Gearstick Gaiters

Hi Guys,

What have you used and how fixed, your handbrake and gearstick gaiters.
I have the Sierra handbrake and Type 9 gear stick so looking for options.

Cheers!

I bought mine from Carbuilder solutions, a very good service by them and still open for deliveries. They've a good set of options for the gaiters, but not many options for the surround frames.

Just standard off-the-shelf leather effect gaiters and chrome trim rings. The gaiters glued to the underside of the rings and the rings screwed to the tunnel top.

Something a bit like Gear Gaiters, but a lot cheaper and more variety if you look around.

I cut my surrounds out of 6mm ali and painted them black as didn't want chrome surrounds. Fitted then with countersunk stet screws into rivnuts.

Hi guys,

Its the handbrake that appears the hardest. No surround to fix the gaiter too??

I bought my gaiters and surroundings from ebay, seller is c-t-sspares and it seems like he he still selling them (it was in July 2014 for me!)

I punched some holes in the gaiters for the screws, glued the gaiters to the surroundings with Sikaflex, insert rivnuts in the alloy panel and screwed the surrounding with some head stainless steel allen screws.

Here is the post from my blog about that :

Hope that will help

Admittedly they're not matching, but I re-used the gear lever gaitor from my donor Sierra and bought a handbrake gaitor from Ebay for my MK Indy. The gear leaver gaitor I simply trapped in the top panel cut out using one of the bellow sections. IIRC the handbrake gaitor wasn't actually fixed to the top panel, but was long enough to stay put. Both worked fine for me and IMHO looked fine as well. Gear lever gaitor was free and the hand brake one I wouldn't have spent much money on.

Made both my gaitors and surrounds. Pretty simple to cut the surrounds from 4mm Aluminium sheet and then countersink allen headed stainless bolts. The gaitors I stitched myself with zero prior experience. Lots of people comment with wonder in their eyes at the gaitors actually. They can't believe I made them. I built a fricking car!! Trimming a cone out of material stitching it together and turning it insides out was childsplay.
