Carb Heating System

Appologies to those that heve seen this on the Yahoo BEC lsit but...

Are you ZX9R people running the carburetor heating system or have you removed it and plugged up the holes in the head and water pump...?

I would like to remove it but don't want to experience problems.

I left it in because I thought what's the benefit of removing it?

2 sides of the argument here!

Dave:
I guese the only reason for removing it is to tidy up the bunch of pipes that are required for this system... So probably not really much of a reason. I suppose I was hoping I would get loads of people all agreeing that it isn't needed so I just could remove it and forget about it.

Wadders:
I believe that the temp doesn't need to be that cold (certainly doesn't have to be freezing) for the carb jets to ice (due to air cooling when passing through venturi). Have you never had any fueling problems?

Interestingly, looking at your pictures, you seem to be running with the emmisions reduction system from the bike.... I thought this was the first thing to bin?? Do you think it is necessary?

Thanks

Marc

Bike mechanic mate of mine said you might as well keep the carb heaters on and now they are on and the car is working I can't be arsed to bin it. I don't think I will be driving when its cold enough to freeze the carbs though.

I binned the emmisions thingy due to the crap noise it made through the air filter. Sounds much better now!
