How neat would this be in a BEC?
1300cc Semi-automatic. Only 144 BHP but just look at the torque.... 134Nm
We're holding out though for the ZX14R semi-automatic

was, recently, pondering the notion of taking a six speed transmission from a Harley-Davidson and adapting it to an automobile engine. The Harly
trans is separate from the engine, so mounting it is do-able and it would be much lighter than a "normal" car transmission (plus 6
speed!).
Now I am curious about separating this semi-auto transmission for the Yamaha engine. That would be interesting.
The strongest stock Harley tranny can handle just at 100HP, while this Yamaha box goes to 140HP.
What do you suppose it would take to bring this off?

I'm using the 05 version of that engine. Regular 'box though. Around the same weight as a hayabusa.
I'm hoping the same mods that are done to the R1 (airbox, exhaust etc) will up the HP a little, but the torque figures are great.

Dave, I would imagine that unlike Harleys, the Yam uses 20th/21st century bike engine design and has the gearbox built into the engine
If thats the case then it would be nigh on impossible to seperate it out without huge amounts of engineering (casting cases etc)

agricultural, perhaps, but a six speed transmission smaller than my head and weighing less than 15 pounds is tempting.
