Blade clutch area Questions
Hi all,
just started to clean up my engine with a bit of gunk tonight and i noticed the bottom rear most bolt on the cluth cover had a crack, on further
investigation a small chip about half a little finger nail in size was glued back into the casting with what looked like tread lock.
So i took the cover off and it looks like its just a bit of the casting on the outside and it looks like their is enough thread to hold the cover on
ok. any thoughts on this, should i try and get it welded up?
Second question, i was playing a bit with the clush push rod and i could move it about 10mm ish, in and out with practically no resistance, does that
sound right?

Hi Gav
If the gasket surface is intact and as you say there's reasonable meat for the bolt to hold onto then I would think it will be fine.
As to the pull rod, yep it floats about when you've got the cover off, all normal.

umm actually, what i did notice that was odd, was that their was no gasket fitted!
i must presume that it was removed for some reason...

If thats the case I would suspect that maybe the clutch cover is a replacement one, swapped over by the breaker. When bikers throw them down the road
the end covers are the bits that usually take a beating and often crack or even break open, hence why they get replaced before the engine is sold on -
either that or it had a tarty billet cover on it before and they've just put the original back on before selling the engine.
With that in mind check inside the clutch area to make sure there's no odd chunks of ally floating about, and order a couple of gaskets (about a
tenner each) from your local Honda stealer.

The clutch cable holder was also missing, but i can fab a new one
I actually bought the engine from MikeKtm from this site, he said it was a spare engine that came with his car when he bought it and that why it was
completly stripped.
Their was a couple of flecks of ally in the tiny bit of oil that was left in there which i removed.
