Quick question - '98 R1 ignitor wiring

Hi peeps,
The white wire (from the speed sensor) - why does this go into the ignitor module?
It it just a speed limiter to prevent bikers producing sonic bangs?
In which case I can simply leave it open circuit - or should I deck it???
Also just to confirm - the black wire from the cyleloc, I simply deck that to get sparks?
thanks
Bob
PS sounds like I'm close to starting it eh??? Nope - miles off . . . .

both black wires from the ignition control unit should be grounded to get the spark plugs to fire.

the white wire from the speed sensor does go to the ECU but I don't know what it does. AFAIK, bikes don't ahve speed limitors.

Cheers for that.
I'm assuming the speed sensor can't do anything else (than apply a speed limit) or the engine would behave different in different gears (if you know what I mean).
I don't have the bike speed sensor if you hadn't guessed...
It's been a fruitful day today - time for a beer I reckon

Maybe it has a different spark timing map for higher speeds or perhaps to take account of any ram air effect. Try it. worry about it if it doesn't work.
