r1 coolant pipes

when you're looking at the back of the engine as if you were sat in the car just below the propshaft( small sprocket on the bike) there is a large coolant pipe that is plumbed into the bottom hose and a small hose above and a bit to the right any one know where this should be attatched to,it's a 99 engine

On my 2003 engine, which should be the same, I've fed this to the bottom of the expansion tank. It shoud be about 8mm bore.

On the 2002/3 engine it should go up and connect to the throttle bodies to feed water through the "choke" actuator, so I suspect it does similar on the carbs on earlier engines?

would it be ok just to blank this one off then? as there doesn't seem to be any pressure there!

If it's a part of the cooling system there HAS to be pressure there, does it only come "live" when the stat opens or something similar?

kev looking at my 99 engine down by the prop adaptor theres a big tube 25mm and a 10mm one or there abouts

the big one goes to the bottom left of the r1 rad when looking at back and the little one used to go through the carbs no need though!

so it goes straight to the top of the r1 rad same side as the above one

hth chris
