Dont think (waiting to be corrected) you want to repack with wire wool only, the last few repack sets i have seen have a layer of wirewool in the middle but fibreglass type material for the outside, ie 2 layers of different material. I was always under the impression that wire wool was only used nearest the central pipe becuase anything else would burn away too quickly.

Car Builder Solutions do re-pack kits for either 5" (£15) or 6" (£18) silencers.

I try to use about 1/2 inch of wire wool wrapped by 2-3 layers of the fibre matting CBS supply. Not too tight just a snug fit in the can. The CBS kits could do with a little more wire wool IMO.
