Suggestions for a BEC FAQ

Hi Chaps

I u2u'd ChrisW the other day about the possibility of having an FAQ in the BEC section so we can reduce the number of questions that get asked time after time, with the same old answers from all of us.

So, can you all post up some suggestions for FAQ topics and/or links to threads to frequently asked topics. Things like "Which engine is best", "which oil should I use", "how do you convert a bike engine to use a prop" etc etc. I will have a look through and pick some myself as well when I get time, then we'll either make this topic a sticky, or more likely I'll start a new topic with a single post with all the FAQ topics listed, then get Chris to Lock it and sticky it.

cheers

Chris

A list of engines that do/don't need dry sumping would be handy.
Or a list of what needs doing to what engine for bec installs.

List of common engine perfomance data

Pumbing diagrams for common engines

Plist of places to buy uprated clutches - and the best ones to buy!

bike battery or car battery

information on Speedo healers / yellow boxes

Commn thoughts on differing sprocket adapter designs

photos and info on differing paddle shift designs

information on tweeking certain common engines in order to meet SVA emmision requirements

A check list to run through when the inevitable 'R1 no spark' thread rears its head!

Information or links to threads discussing the merits of car radiatior v's bike radiator

circuit diagrams for the common engine choices

information on which wires to earth / solder together in order to close sidestand switches/neutral and kill switches.

Information on the resistor ratings for putting into some of the bike looms to 'fool' the CDI

Information or links to the great air box / no air box, Re jet and no rejet debate.

A list of BEC owners/builders including location and what car/s they have built/owned.

I think a lot of the questions could be answered with links to existing threads as you will never be able to provide definative answers to all the common questions, you may be able to describe how you have done it and it works for you but there will always be another idea/method.

Just my thoughts..........

Yeh that was the idea, you lot were meant to post some links to various threads as well

Im certainly not going to have time to write a complete FAQ though, and as you say its no good just coming from one person anyway as it would only one person's take on the subject.

I was thinking mainly BEC related tech questions, I think generic stuff like questions about the manufacturers etc can probably be dealt with in their own relevent forums
