Disaster strikes

Riding my bike yesterday and the chain snapped, locking up the engine sprocket and stripping some within teeth the gearbox

Its an 893 blade, has anyone any spare cogs, secondly and do you know how hard it is to replace once I have located a spare set ?

Cheers Mark

Good job it didn't throw you!

No idea about the blade and I don't have any spare cogs I'm afraid,

BUT

I did spend an hour changing all the gears over on my two ZZR's over the weekend. Once you have the cases apart and the gear shafts out, they come apart very easily, just circlips on the Kawa. Got to be careful to get everything back in the right order and oil ways aligned, but no more than a hours work to strip 4 shafts and swap all the components.

HTH

Mike

Sigh of relief, felt nothing just lost drive after a fast coast ride ! however putting it on the recovery truck and the chain hooked the rear wheel so my luck held out....

Thanks Hellfire, Email sent.

Cheers Mark

The problem you'll have is that gearboxes are quite sought after items by the BEC community, especially the RGB racers because they lunch them quite often, so if you need a complete 2nd hand box then the going rate seems to be ~£200. If you only need odd gear pairs though, you might find it easier/cheaper I guess.

Try Andy Bates (AB Performance), I dont have his number on me at the mo but a search should dig out his details, he specifically rebuilds / tunes blades so might be able to help, although he does do a lot for the RGB so he might have more demand than supply.
