R1 engine weight.

More trivia. I just weighed my 1998 R1 4XV engine and thought that it might be of interest.

The engine doesn't have carbs fitted and has had the sprocket, sprocket cover and exhaust studs removed. It is complete with the starter motor and a few pipes and hoses. although it has been drained of fluids, there's still a bit in there.

On my bathroom scales it weight 61kg. That includes the gearbox and clutch of course. That's about 1/3 of a similarly complete pinto + clutch + type 9.

I have the 5JJ and even with everything strapped onto it (carbs, loom, airbox etc.), I don't know what it weighs but was still fairly easy to pick up on my own.

With two of us to get it into the car, my 13 year old sister could have done it!
