R1 clocks or digidash..?
I'm just starting the build of my stm locost with an injection r1 engine (later higher revving engine, 5vy i think the code is?). Anyway i was
all set to get a digidash but i've just seen a set of 05 r1 clocks and think they look really good, are they sva friendly though (eg radius of
protrusions etc)?
So what would be the best route to go? Also will european clocks work with an american import engine/loom?

I don't know about the clocks but I do know you can have issues with fault codes apearing on the rev counter.
If you remove the ex-up valve then you will have to retain the servo to make sure you do not get the rev counter misbehaving.
I have gone down the veypor v2 route.
Not only does it do speedo but gives lots of other info. It comes with a fuel computer that works out your fuel levels. You do not need a tank sender,
plus less the weight of the ex-up servo.

R1 clocks look good and a far, far cheaper than digi dash's - plus you won't get all the fault codes either.
Make sure you get the right clocks for your model of engine though!

They'll fail the sva if they're outside the 127mm rule.
I wanted mine central to the dash so I made a wooden surround and some perspex in the middle. It fell off as I drove away from the sva centre.
I left it at mac1's for them to use but they barbequed it.

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

Opinions are like backsides..
Everyone has one, nobody wants to hear it and only other peoples stink!

Thanks for the quick replies . If i went with the r1 clocks i was just going to mount the ex-up motor in the engine bay somewhere, so it
shouldn't get any fault codes up unless something does actually go wrong.
chris- thats one main reason i want to go for the clocks, you can't beat the look of an analogue rev counter, what additional gauges/warning
lights would i need for sva though, brake fluid level? lights? hazards etc? i'm not too bothered about a fuel gauge...
Does anyone know for sure if the european and american clocks are the same?
ps, whats the 127mm rule?

127mm rule is the exclusion zone around the edge of the steering wheel which is exempt from testing on sva in which you can safely mount non
compliant switches/instruments etc
thats why most people leave on the sierra wheel untill after sva .
so from the outer edge of the wheel draw a circle 127mm bigger and anything in this space is ok

The v2 veypor does either analogue or digital speedo. It has about 5 modes of speedo readouts that you can change at will. You can have different
displays depending on activity, road, race, lap timer, shift light, quarter mile christmas tree count down, etc.
