I know with Hondas you can write to them and they'll send you details for a fee of about £30 but Ive not heard of anyone doing it through
Yamaha.
Would a Haynes manual not suffice, some SVA centres will accept that although its not universal?
Im not sure how stict they'd be for an 03 engine anyway, its not like you're trying to claim its a pre-95 and so bypass the emissions
tests, so they might not worry too much.

You may be able to ring the Yamamaha tech people and get them to send you a letter saying that the engine with number xxxxx was made it 2003. Or will
they accept the stuff in a Haynes manual?

Des,
May or may not work but certainly did for me and mine was also SVA'd at Mitcham.
I found all the Honda dealers (you would have to do Yamaha obviously) and emailed loads of them with the engine number and asked them if they would
mind confirming the age of he engine.
When a couple had come back I wrote back to them thanking them and asking if thye would mind putting it on there headed paper, they did and sent a
letter by fax and one as an email attachement.
You can also make up some Yamaha headed paper and a letter yourself and just pick a dealers address and it will be fine.
Rich.

Great minds think alike!
One might be tempted to use a mate's phone number and 'prime' him he might get a call!

Download a Yamaha logo, make your own sheet that says the engine number matches the manufacturing date of 27/05/94.
Then no way will you have to use a cat.

I didn't provide proof of age with my SVA application as I declared it as an '03 engine and had a cat fitted. It's only really of
value if it's pre cat build so you can use the nicer emissions test.
You may want to look in a Haynes manual for the year of bike you have as it may have the engine number runs in there.

Like Chocky says, even if you can prove your engine year, you're still gonna have to go through the strict emissions test at SVA. Personally I
wouldn't bother getting one.

I wouldn't chance it. I have crossflow in mine and ant testerworth his salt would know these have not been made for >20 yrs or more; even
so, he still wanted proof -(burtopn power catalogue).

That's because if you can't prove the age you have to go for the stricter test. If you can then you get away with the pre cat test. If
it's declared as a 2003 then it will be tested with a cat.
