Mechanical BEC Clock v Acewell

I'd like to use to original bike clocks from my ZX9R'B but it has a mechanical speedo. Is it possible to adapt the speedo to take an electric input or should I go for an Acewell/Vaypour type instead?
Thanks.

not easily. I am working on doing this at the moment and have a DC motor to drive the speedo.

The difficult part is to have a sensor and a controller to turn the motor at the required speed. I am using a PIC for the controller and yet to make the sensor.

The likes of Stack and SPA do mechanical to electrical convertors for about £30.

That said, and Acewell is a good solution.
