Blade wiring loom query

I've finally got round to tackling the wiring (engine's only been bolted in for about 18 months!)
Problem is, I've got a '94 893cc RRS 'blade engine fitted but I've just realised the loom and ignition control module I was going to use is from a later 919cc RRT or RRV.
After carefully studying the Haynes manual wiring diagrams it seems the only difference between the two is that the later loom has an additional plug (and hence also additional pins on the ignition control module) for a throttle position sensor which my earlier 893cc engine does not have fitted.
My question is will my engine run ok with this loom or will the ignition control module be looking for signals from a non-existent throttle position switch - causing starting/running problems etc?
Does anyone know if its possible to short out the wiring for the throttle position sensor in order to 'fool' the ignition module?

Cheers,
Andy.

You'll also need to add a 390 Ohm resistor in the pink wire on the loom (switched +'ve feed into CDI unit) in order to bypass the protection built into the ign. barrel.

Should't be too hard to add a TPS onto your carbs if you wanted to.

No idea if you can just leave it disconnected.

Ditto for me, just ignore the extra wires and it will run fine.

My box is also from a 919 running an 893 engine but has no pink wire, make sure you earth the stand et al or you will not start.

The pink wire is only on the 98/99 engine so earlier 919 looms won't have it.

A friend of mine also ran his 893 blade with a 919 loom and never had any problems, so should be fine.

BTW, I've written up a full startup checklist for the 919 loom which Ive posted on here previously so might be worth a search if you get stuck.

Thanks for the replies, guys.
So, in short, the 919cc CDI unit will function perfectly ok even though it will not be receiving a signal from a Throttle position sensor?
I have another query:-
The 919cc loom does not have wiring for the fuel pump and fuel cut-off relay as used on an 893cc blade engine.
How have those that have used this loom wired in a fuel pump? (I have the appropriate 'blade pump but have no fuel cut-off relay)
Do I need the relay or can I connect the fuel pump direct - and to which wires? (is it across the ignition and earth?)
Also, should the pump be located near the engine or near the fuel tank in the rear?

Thanks again (I can see many other questions looming the deeper I delve)

Andy.

hi Andrew

Just wire the fuel pump into a seperately fused ignition feed so it comes on / off with the ignition, you can relay it with a standard automotive relay if you want, but its not really necessary.

Id put the pump near the tank, they push fuel better than they pull although some people have fitted them up front and not had problems.

Thanks, Chris,
Any idea what sort of current the pump draws so I know what size fuse to use?
After talking to Andy Bates,l decided to mount pump near the engine as I thought should it go faulty, it'll be easily accessible to change it.
