No direct experience of r1, but the standard oil pressure will be fine. if you cant find a suitable spare tapping, maybe use the oil pressure switch tapping and fit a tee piece for the switch.
theres a good website for turboing an r1, if you google it.

Here, had it in my favourites

I connected my feed to the turbo from the original tapping for the oil cooler.

On I4 bike engines this tends to be on the 'front' or as we install them - side with the exhaust ports which makes it a handy place for feeding turbos.

In my experience the feed to the turbo was the easy part, the drain was the difficult bit.

Normally in a tall car engine you can mount the turbo high up and have a nice long straight downpipe for the oil to drain neatly under gravity back to the sump but my turbo is mounted almost level with the sump.

Ive had several ideas about whats best and probably would have done a baising return with a reed valve in the oil pump pick up pipe in the sump had I not have just taken it off and put it back on again (a weak excuse I knw)

Before you make up a manifold I would think about the oil return and try to get your turbo as high as you can so you can use a gravity return - makes the install a lot easier and cheaper and ultimately more reliable.

Cheers

Geoff

Is it compulsory to run those wheels on Turbocharged R1 locosts?

Seriously though, I will be keeping an eye on both your progress as if I actually finish my R1 indy and keep it, I will be looking to do a DIY turbocharge conversion.
