Prop and Adaptor
I been speaking with Dunning & Fairbank and for a TRT they've quoted £265 and Autoprop quoted me £160. Seems a big difference. They both
need to know overall distance and distance front to centre bearing. I purposely haven't mounted my engine yet till I get this so can anyone tell
me if there's a more desirable place to put the centre bearing, I would have thought whatever keeps the prop at its straightest and the big
thing, does anyone know how deep the adaptors are and the bolt pattern?
I have a picturehere from somewhere but not
sure if its right

The prop does not want to be straight. This can cause premature wear in the UJ bearings as all of the load is constantly on the same point.
Both flanges should ideally be parallel, but not in line to allow some prop misalignment.
If your car is live axle, then none of this is as critical as the flanges are rarely in line anyway!

Ah right, cheers for that info. Mines a De Dion. The diff is in the centre of the chassis whilst the engine shaft is just off centre, so it
don't really matter where I place and secure the centre bearing right?

Not really. Just make sure that you also keep the UJ angles less than +/- 7 degrees each - that tends to be limit for most UJs.

Anyone with a rough figure of how much to knock off the prop length for the adaptor.I'd like to order it soon as well as the adaptor.

Now you find out why the D&F is More expensive ... it comes with a slider so you can adjust the length
Opinions are like backsides..
Everyone has one, nobody wants to hear it and only other peoples stink!
