ZZR1100 147bhp & easily tunable for more, plus more torque than most, needs no mods like dry sump/baffling etc & comes without exploding clutch/gearbox as fitted to the R1 & it's half the price, buy a pre '95 one & no Cat emmissions test either

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

You can put virtually all R1 engines on that list, not just post 04 engines, my 03 engine put out 138bhp at the wheels on a borrowed Power Commander map, and Ive seen several properly set up with a bit more, carbed engines as well as injected.

The advantage of the superbike engines (R1, ZX9, blade, GSXR1000 etc) is that they're lighter than the more touring orientated engines like the ZZR1100 and Blackbird, so even if they sometimes don't quite have as much peak torque, thats offset by the weight saving
