R1 airbox mods

Have any R1 builders used the original airbox?

I know it can be turned around but doing this will still not allow it to fit under my bonet line.

Has anyone successfully managed to modify the original item to make it a lower profile?

Hi,
Have a look in my archive under airbox may give you some ideas,
I used a standard airbox upside down and made a fiberglass part to connect it to the carbs, still wouldn't fit under my bonnet though!

There was no way of fitting the std airbox under my bonnet which is why I made my own. It might not be any harder to make one than adapt one.

Try fitting the bottom half of the yamaha airbox and measure if any of it sticks above the bonnet line. I think it will be close.
