ZX6R fuel pump, R1 engine fuel return?

In another thread about this pump, it mentioned that this unit has a reserve fuel light switch built in (which is what I want instead of a tank sender), but also it has no return pipe from the fuel rail.
According to the ZX6R manual, the pressure regulator is in the pump itself.
My R1 engine (2005) has a pressure regulator in the return pipe.
Would it be best to remove the R1 pressure regulator/block off and rely on the ZX6R pump pressure regulator, or would it be ok to run both and install a fuel return?
The ZX6R pump pressure return is rated at 44psi and the R1 regulator is rated at 42.6psi so in theory a return pipe can be plumbed in?
Cheers Martin

How long is the run of pipe from pump to fuel rail. It might be fine on a middy install but I certainly wouldnt fancy it on a front engined car with a tank in the back for a whole host of reasons.

Have you checked the flow rates as well as the pressure as one will be partilly dependant upon the other.

Is there any reason why you dont want to use a Yam R1 / R6 pump? It would seem a much simpler solution.

The tank will be very close to the engine so distance is not an issue.
The zx6r pump is easier to create a mounting boss whereas the R1 pump is held in with a twist type cap.
